PA week every year is a celebration of the profession and a chance to educate the public about all that PAs do. According to the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA.org) website:
Before it was a week-long event, National PA Day was first celebrated on October 6, 1987, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the first graduating class of PAs from the Duke University PA program. October 6 is also the birthday of the profession’s founder, Eugene A. Stead, Jr., MD. For more on the profession’s history, visit the PA History Society.
PA week is a great time to get excited and learn about all this field has to offer. AAPA’s site has some great publications, banners, and posters to help those around you learn about the profession. Check it out!
